Memories of a photograph…

I am realizing that I don’t have a copy of one of my favorite photographs I have ever had taken of me.  Not normally bashful about being in pictures, but nowadays I am most often behind the camera, I don’t have just scads of photos of me.  But this is one of me as a toddler, in a snow suit, practicing walking with my Dad, in the snow in Massachusetts.

The significance of this picture is my Dad, wearing his Air Force Captain’s flight suit, shades, flight cap and all is bending all 6′ 2″ inches of himself in half so that I can hold his huge hands, fingers really and not stretch my arms to the sky doing it.  He was getting ready to head off on another tour to South East Asia, stationed in Guam and Bangkok. (being likely in early 1970 or so during operation Freedom Deal, before Linbacker/Linebacker II).

I still have memories of my hand holding onto a huge finger that provided a steady assurance while crossing the street.  Happy Fathers’ Day all…
